Happy New Year from Hillside Eventing! - Sarah Tomkins
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and made time for family get together's, I did my best. My husband spoilt me rotten on Christmas Day by doing the yard for me so that I could have a lazy day off and do absolutely nothing! What more could I ask. The yard has had a very quiet month as far as shows go but all horses are back in work and I am getting very excited about the fast-approaching new season ahead. My rides are feeling and looking absolutely fantastic and their diet's has remained the same all being fed Rowen Barbary ReadyMash Extra, the majority are also having Rowen Barbary's Sumo which I think is why Neo is finally gaining top line as he has previously lost weight when not in work. Coton Rainbow star feels even more elevated than previous years and has come to work like a dream. Neo is still sound so that's always a bonus......he has put lots of weight on since having time off after Gatcombe Park, he now feels loose and is very happy to be getting all the attention again. I have been lunging Joey the new 4yo to encourage him to carry his own canter,  we have included lots of transitions and pole work to encourage balance and the difference is brilliant. He is much easier to ride now, as he was fairly weak behind the saddle when he first arrived, I think the Sumo has also played a role in his development. My sales liveries are going really nicely and will be attending training shows in January.  I have received many enquiries, but no viewings yet. But I am not surprised given the time of year and delightful weather, no one could be disappointed with these horses. New year brings reflections and I can not be more proud of how far we come in 2015 given my yard looked like this a year ago. Last Christmas I was drawing up plan after plan of how I wanted my yard to be layed out and this Christmas I am designing daughter Amelia's yard. I have spent many nights with my diary on the sofa searching for training shows to get all 8 horses out to, my poor drivers are going to be exhausted with a mixture of affiliated and unaffiliated competitions including arena eventing, test riding lessons and trips out for all-weather xc schooling. I look forward to sharing with you how January has started, buzzing is an understatement. #lovemyjob #qualityhorsepower #livingthedream # bringon2016 #RBTeam
