Hi everyone! My name is Lexie Corcoran, I’m 15 years old, and I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Rowen Barbary team. Showjumping is my absolute passion, and I’ve dedicated the last few years to producing young ponies up to the highest levels of the sport. Here is a little insight into my journey, my incredible ponies, and what a typical day looks like for me!

1. Where are you based?

I am based in the beautiful county of Shropshire. My horses are kept at my grandad’s farm, which is a lovely, quiet family setup where the horses can really relax. We have fantastic hacking right on our doorstep and a great outdoor space where we do training and flatwork preparation.

2. When did your riding journey begin?

My riding journey started when I was just 4 years old. My mum bought me a 4-year-old 128cm pony, and together we produced Diesel until he became one of the top under-10s ponies in England! Growing up in a horsey family meant I was always around them, and ever since that first pony, I’ve been completely hooked on the process of producing young, talented ponies to the top level.

3. What discipline(s) do you compete in?

I compete purely in Showjumping.

4. What has been your proudest achievement so far?

My proudest achievement is definitely qualifying for HOYS (Horse of the Year Show) four times on four totally different ponies. Being able to produce them all to that level by myself has been an amazing experience and so incredibly rewarding. I also got selected to jump on England showjumping team.

5. Tell us about your top horse

My main horse is Sean, a 7-year-old 148cm pony who I’ve owned since he was 4. He is my absolute pony of a lifetime! He was a bit cheeky and testing at the start, but all the hard work has completely paid off. Our bond is exceptional, and he always tries his absolute heart out for me. Our biggest highlights together so far include qualifying for HOYS last year and qualifying for Hickstead this year!

6. What does a typical day look like for you?

My days are pretty busy balancing school and riding! I get up early every morning before school to do the stables and feeds with my mum. As soon as school finishes, I’m back out to ride. I usually do my main training sessions on Tuesdays or Sundays, and the rest of the week I focus heavily on their flatwork and lots of hacking to keep them fit, fresh, and happy.

7. What are your goals for the future?

Looking ahead, I really want to transition successfully onto horses and continue competing at the top level. My dream is to compete abroad on the international circuit and jump at major global events like the Royal Windsor Horse Show and the Global Champions Tour in Miami.

8. Do you have any top riding tips or advice?

My biggest piece of advice is to be patient and trust the process. When producing young ponies, you will always have difficult days, but if you put the time into building a strong bond and getting the basics right on the flat, the hard work always pays off in the ring.

9. Do you have any pre-competition rituals or lucky habits?

I always do a quick "wiggle" in the saddle before I enter the ring to shake off any nerves and make sure I'm relaxed! Other than that, I just like to make sure my pony and I have a calm, consistent warm-up so we enter the ring feeling confident.

10. Favourite post-ride snack or treat?

Definitely sweet treats! You can't beat a chocolate bar or some sweets after a long day of riding.

11. What’s your favourite Rowen Barbary product and why?
